Manufacturing Measurement
How much FUN is measurement in a manufacturing environment?! Thank you governmental regulatory bodies that require so much record keeping…measurement in a manufacturing organization is less about deciding what to measure and more about picking the most appetizing morsel from among a smorgasbord of measurement choices.
I mean…you got your materials. Manufacturing is all about making stuff from other stuff. The other stuff, in the form of raw materials, comes in somewhere and based on various natural laws is converted into:
- Stuff that can be sold
- Stuff that has to be thrown out
- Stuff that is leftover waiting to be made into other stuff
- Stuff that is converted to something too tiny to throw out, so it goes into the air or water
